Aeris, a risk and impact consultancy launched in 2004, initially with a focus on community development financial institutions, has performed six verifications in the last year alone. But it’s not only impact-focused boutiques doing the authentications: Some large accounting firms that may already have a relationship with asset managers from their financial audits have entered the business as well.
“The verification field has gotten really crowded very quickly,” says Paige Chapel, CEO of Aeris. “There’s a lot of firms that have developed a practice, including the large accounting firms.”
